When Aleš introduced me to the AEQ method, which focuses on chronic muscular tension as a reaction to a traumatic event or stress, I became aware that the problem is in sensory-motor amnesia. I also developed chronic muscular tension, which I blamed on aging and excessive physical exertion. But age itself isn't the real culprit here; muscle reflexes become a habit due to everything we do in our life. What first seemed like the result of aging turns out to be sensory-motor amnesia, which happens due to high amounts of stress and injuries. Chronic muscular tension that becomes our natural state through the years is resistant to any drug, even with manual therapy, I couldn't eliminate it.

While with most methods, we try to eliminate pain on a certain body part (neck, hips, back, …), the AEQ method understands that pain in the body is only a piece of a larger pattern of our dysfunction. These patterns show how we react to stress, which involves muscular contraction.

Sensory-motor amnesia and the dysfunctions it causes manifest in three possible movement patterns, which we call the green light reflex (go forward), red light reflex (stop, go back), the trauma reflex (the result of injuries), and the freeze reflex (panic or life-threatening fear-paralysis).

About the founder

From a young age, I was a passionate sportsman. My career in teaching others began in fitness and kettlebells and teaching customers about correct movements while under pressure.  

I have had pain in my hip, which I tried to eliminate using different medical assistance methods, bodybuilding, massage, chiropractors, and physiotherapy. Still, because nothing helped, I just got used to the pain. Later on, when I started studying the possible causes, I stumbled upon the teachings of Thomas Hanna, a teacher of clinical somatics. When I saw the first possible solutions to my problem that didn't include surgery, I delved deeper into learning the method with Martha Peterson and other experts. After a few days of performing the exercises, I noticed an incredible improvement: which made me want more.

A certified level 1 teacher of the AEQ method:

  • Can teach basic AEQ movement to help improve sensation, control, orderliness, and efficiency of movement and control over muscles.
  • Knows the basics of sensory-motor amnesia and somatic responses to stress and injuries.
  • Masters the fundamental principles of the AEQ method and clinical somatics and can help change the sensory-motor patterns causing chronic pain, movement limitations, and lowering the quality of life.
  • It can help with any condition where we feel that we have trouble with contracted, shortened, and tense muscles, which we cannot relax even if we try.

  • Knows how to increase movement synchronization helps the athlete improve his results through better motor intelligence and a more efficient movement range.
  • Can recognize somatic movement patterns caused by emotional trauma and can change them through individual therapy, thus relieving the patient of pain and enabling his personal growth.

The transition from 2nd to 3rd level is like the transition from middle school to high school. The complexity of schooling is greatly increased for the teacher because a teacher who knows how to actively teach someone lying on his table has a much greater ability to influence the sensory-motor amnesia of the person he is working with. Greater influence, however, requires higher responsibility, concentration, stability, and depth and breadth of knowledge about the material work of man. Knowledge of kinesthetics, anatomy, and somatic connections of structure and function allows him to understand and explain the impact of SMA on posture, movement, and behavior that causes chronic pain and conditions. A level 3 teacher teaches more complex AEQ exercises, as the change in SMA in active learning is much greater and allows a person to have a greater sense and control over the body's conscious movement. This allows for a stronger impact of consciousness on everyday life and a clearer recognition of actions and relationships, and the inability to make changes. It is precisely the recurrence of errors and the inability to understand the causes of this recurrence well enough that are the main reasons for the development of chronic conditions.

A certified level 1 teacher of AEQ breathing:

Knows how to teach the fundamental AEQ breathing exercises, which help the student increase the volume of his abdominal cavity (which is a requirement for correct, full lung breathing) by increasing his ability to relax his torso's muscles (the ones between his neck and pelvis). He knows and teaches the appropriate approach to eliminate physical issues resulting from inefficient breathing and allows to increase the capacity of recreational athletes.

Teaching AEQ breathing positively influences well-being and improves the effects of the AEQ method and their psychophysical sensation, and greatly improving a person's quality of life.

Knowledge of AEQ breathing enables a comprehensive and faster regulation of conditions such as low back, neck, and shoulder pain, high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, headaches, and migraines. It is also essential in eliminating snoring, respiratory interruptions, asthma, bronchitis, respiratory allergies, food allergies, and depression.
